Home Firearms Safety (NRA)
This is a four-hour course which emphasizes safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm nomenclature; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, and NRA course completion certificate. This is a NON-FIRING Workshop.
Basic Rifle (NRA)
This is a 14-hour course (broken up into two days) and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and NRA course completion certificate. Difficulty level: Novice and above
Intro to Pistol (Non NRA Course)
This is a six-hour course which includes classroom and range time with pistols. Students will learn about different types of handguns, including revolvers and semi-automatics; field stripping and cleaning their pistols; reassembly and function checks; sight alignment and sight picture; firing from the bench rest and standing positions, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive a Modern Tactical course completion certificate. Difficulty level: Novice and above
Tactical Pistol (Non NRA Course)
Lets face it, when your stress level is increased, your fine motor skills and other sensory skills go out the window. Expanding on basic fundamentals learned in our Intro to Pistol Course, this 2 day course will develop reflexive gun handling, improve marksmanship and foster a tactical mindset in the student. This course will teach the student to use their pistol tactically and develop solid gun fighting skills. Each drill, from hyper accuracy shooting to close quarter firing, will aid the student in becoming a better shooter under stressful conditions. Students will receive a Modern Tactical course completion certificate. Difficulty level: Advanced Shooters and above
AR-15 Familiarization (Non NRA Course)
Course is offered either as a three-hour non-firing class or an eight-hour course which includes classroom and range time with an AR platform rifle. Students will learn the history and nomenclature of the AR platform rifle; learn how to field strip and clean their rifle; reassemble and function check their rifle after disassembly and cleaning; zeroing the rifle; shooting from the prone, sitting, kneeling and standing positions, and offers continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive a Modern Tactical course completion certificate. Difficulty level: Novice and above
